Each year the Portsmouth Advocates presents awards of excellence to owners and architects for restoring the historic integrity of a site; for creating the adaptive reuse of a site; or developing a new project and in doing so enhancing the city's unique historic character as an essential part of making Portsmouth a better place to live and work.

In addition, the Portsmouth Advocates gives to individuals the Arthur J. Gerrier Memorial and Special Recognition Awards in honor of their service and commitment to our historic community. Arthur Gerrier was a member of the Portsmouth Advocates Board and an outstanding architectural historian.
